Learn more about the prerequisites for applying to us.
Educational Background
The program is open to both domestic and international students. Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree, or higher, in biology, psychology, medicine, physics, or related fields with outstanding grades and/or other study results.
Solid knowledge in subjects, such as molecular biology, cell biology, or physiology, as well as laboratory experience in at least one of the subjects, are required as an entrance requirement.
Applications are welcome even if the required degree has not been awarded by the time of application as long as this will be conferred before courses start in October. You have to send proof that you will finish your studies before the start of the MSc Program.
Language Requirements
English knowledge: An English proficiency certificate is mandatory for application. English as a first language or paper TOEFL min. 550, or PC TOEFL min. 213, internet TOEFL (iBT) min. 79, respectively, or IELTS 6.0 or equivalent (e.g. a proven longer stay in an English-speaking country). The test must have been completed not more than two years before the course starts. For German applicants, the DAAD language certificate or School English (Abitur) is accepted.
English as the medium of instruction is not sufficient.
Without one of the aforementioned official proofs of your English level, your application will be declared 'incomplete' and will not be considered for evaluation. By the given deadline, you need to provide a copy of your English certificate or proof of registration to the exam if you take the exam after the MSc Neurosciences application deadline. In the second case, please note that you will have to transmit the language certificate by May 01 at the latest.

Procedure
The application for the Master's Program in Neurosciences aims to give us a first insight into your profile.
Registering and uploading the required documents is the first step in your application process. During application, you will be requested to submit your complete records.
Prospective (best-ranked) candidates will be requested by mail to sit an aptitude examination (written test with multiple choice and free text questions). We will ask for basic knowledge of neurosciences, as well as basic knowledge of Physics, Statistics, and Chemistry (high school level). We do not recommend any book chapters as the exam intends to check the applicant's present knowledge.
This is the second step in your application process. Successful applicants will be chosen from among those candidates, who successfully complete the tests.
The entrance examination is accessible worldwide. Candidates can sit the test in their home countries in almost all cases.
Current note
The application link is only available during the application period: January - March 15.
